Anna Mason of Harvard died March 26, 2021, at Emerson Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born at home on July 6, 1934, in Billerica, the sixth of the 12 children of Theresa and Carmine DeBenedictis. She met her beloved John D. Mason while working at the local soda fountain, back when Billerica was still a small town. They made a wonderful life together and had an ideal marriage for 40 years. When he passed away in 1995, she mustered up the strength to carry on, caring for her grandchildren, and sharing the values that they lived by.

Anna was a phenomenal cook and baker with a small home business known as “Annafections.” She moved to Harvard in 2004 to be with her family and, during her retirement, she provided the Council on Aging with her special treats almost weekly until early 2020.

In addition to her culinary talent, Anna enjoyed history, reading, knitting, sewing, gardening, bottle digging, and antiques. Most of all, she enjoyed people. Her life was rich with a large family and many, many friends. She was a mother, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many.

Her immediate family members are Angela and Richard Blinn of Harvard; Jennifer Mason and Kathryn Meade of Northampton; grandchildren Jonathan and Erin Blinn of Tewksbury, Rachel and Ryan Dill of Littleton, and Riana and Adam Nazzaro of Harvard. Her eight great-grandchildren are Kyla, James, and Colin Blinn; Caleb, Mason, Patrick, and Gracie Dill; and Henry Nazzaro. Her family also includes her sisters, Agnes Spinney, Caroline (and Bill) Vitale, Pauline (and Bob) DeDiego; and five brothers, Daniel, Vincent, Anthony (and Lucia), Angelo (and Lillian), and Peter (and Barbara) DeBenedictis. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Carol Ann, brother and sister-in-law, Carmine and Alice, brother Paul, brother-in-law Eldridge Spinney, and sister-in-law Barbara, wife of Vincent. She had dozens of nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She was cherished by her wonderful caregivers: Carmelita, Edith, Jarolin, Jasmide, Susie, Caroline, Alice, Penny, and Sophia. She was loved by many and is deeply missed by all who knew her.
