Former Selectman Lucy Wallace will again be running for a seat on the board. Wallace announced her intention to run in a press release this morning.
There is one seat on the Board of Selectman open this year. It is currently held by Peter Warren.
Wallace, of Orchard Hill, served four terms on the Board of Selectmen, between 1998 and 2010. According to the press release, since leaving the board, Wallace has remained active in local affairs, serving on the Council on Aging (of which she is currently co-chair), the Master Plan Steering Committee, and the 2010-11 Municipal Building Committee. She is currently in her third year as president of the board of the Nashua River Watershed Association.
In her press release, Wallace said that the important decisions facing Harvard influenced her decision to run.
“The choices we make today will define Harvard, now and in the future, whether guiding commercial development, revitalizing town center, restoring our historic buildings, or deciding our future with Devens,” she said in a statement. “Our current quality of life and the legacy we leave for future generations are at stake.”
The town election will be on May 1. According to the Town Clerk’s website, the date for the town caucus hasn’t been set.
