Started cat rescue program, enjoyed boating and dancing

Ruth Ann “Lisa” DeLong, 81, of Harvard, died at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021.
Born in Everett June 6, 1940, Ruth was one of three children of Dr. Harry H. and Beatrice B. (Bregman) Schwartz.
Lisa was passionate about animals, specifically cats. She started her own private rescue program for cats who needed a home, while helping families with their pets. In addition to her love for animals, she loved her family dearly and was a generous and caring person who helped anyone in need. She also enjoyed listening to and collecting old ’30s and ’40s radio programs. She enjoyed boating with her loving husband of 50 years, Chuck, as well as dancing and attending local yacht club events.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was predeceased by her sister, Johnette Lerman.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles E. DeLong II; her son, Darryl R. DeLong and his wife Diane of Shirley; her sister, Susan Merullo and her husband Joseph of Revere; her brother-in-law, Edward Lerman of Orlando, Florida; and her grandchildren, Kenna DeLong and Jayce DeLong.
