Harvard Fire Chief Rick Sicard announced this afternoon the town has decided to postpone Halloween trick-or-treating on the common due to "the total number of household that are still without power, the number of power lines that are on the ground, and the number of power and tree crews working around town."
Here is the complete text of Sicard's message, sent using the town's Connect-CTY emergency contact system:
"Due to the total number of household that are still without power, the number of power lines that are on the ground, and the number of power and tree crews working around town, we feel it is in the best interest of public safety to postpone trick-or-treating for tonight.
We apologize for the short notice of this message but we were hoping to get more of the power restored than has actually happened. We will send out a new Connect-CTY message when we have a new date for trick-or-treating."
