Tonight residents can expect to hear muffled explosions that may vary in volume depending upon the weather and cloud cover, as a result of training at Devens for a Massachusetts National Guard unit that will be soon be deploying to war.
According to an advisory issued by LTC Warren Bacote, commander at USAG Fort Devens, during this training, which is critical to support their combat mission, the guardsmen will be firing about 200 81mm mortar rounds from 9 p.m. to midnight. Questions can be directed to the Public Affairs Office at 978-796-3835.
