The Bromfield girls' lacrosse team beat Grafton 10-8 in the Central/West Division 2 finals today at Foley Stadium in Worcester to earn the title of 2014 Central/West District 2 champions.
The Trojans now in the Division 2 state semifinals, which will be played Tuesday, June 10.
Sophomore Sophie Turchetta was once again the high scorer for Bromfield today with five goals and one assist, followed closely by senior Jackie Planchette with 4 goals.
Goalie Julie Huggins was credited with 9 saves, several crucial to holding the hard-charging Grafton Indians to their 8 points.
"You were unbelievable. I'm so proud of you," first-year coach David Planchette told his players. "How does 'District finals' sound to you," he asked paraphrasing the same question he asked last week after the team won its semi-final match against Groton Dunstable? Once again he was answered with a loud cheer from his squad.
