The Bromfield Trojans fell to the Littleton Tigers 11-2 in their June 6 MIAA boys lacrosse Central East Division 3 quarterfinal on Littleton’s home field, ending their 2019 season and hopes for a district championship.
.Littleton led from the first quarter to the last. Three minutes into the first quarter, Littleton senior Danny Angell, who also plays on the Littleton/Bromfield hockey team, scored Littleton’s first goal and then scored again 11 seconds later. Bromfield fought to gain possession but came up empty-handed, and a minute later, Littleton’s Will Scott scored the Tigers’ third goal. Then for the first time that night, Bromfield had an opportunity to score. Bromfield junior John Hunnewell attempted a shot but missed. However, he found a weakness in Littleton’s defense that opened opportunities for Bromfield , if they could get themselves consistently up to the Tigers’ net. The quarter ended 3-0, in the Tigers’ favor.

Bromfield and Littleton both scored in the second quarter; Bromfield scored twice and Littleton added five goals. Twenty seconds into the quarter, Scott scored once again for the Tigers. The Trojans put up a fight, and their hard work paid off four minutes later when Ayer-Shirley midfielder Jackson Ehwa sent the ball into the net. This was Bromfield’s first goal of the night. Thirty seconds later, Angell scored for Littleton again. A minute after Angell’s goal, Scott scored the Tigers’ sixth goal and Angell sent the ball into the net two minutes later for Littleton’s seventh goal. Littleton’s last goal of the quarter came with 4:36 left when Scott scored. The remaining minutes of the quarter were spent in a back-and-forth battle for the ball, but with two minutes left, Ayer-Shirley junior attackman Joey Robinson scored. The quarter ended in Littleton’s favor, 8-2.
The third and fourth quarters were quieter, with almost no scoring. The ball went back and forth for the remainder of both quarters, with the exception of three Littleton goals. In the third quarter, two minutes in, Littleton’s Gavin Bergeron scored. In the fourth, two minutes in, Littleton’s Ben Canfield scored. Canfield also plays on the Littleton/Bromfield hockey team, as the goalkeeper.
Bromfield ended its season with a 12-8 record, first in its Mid-Wach C league. Littleton won its semifinal district match on June 10 and will play Dover-Sherborn for the Central/East Division 3 district title June 13 at Natick High School.
