The School Committee and Select Board had a tough choice to make Tuesday night between two highly qualified candidates for a temporary appointment to the School Committee. But with an election only 10 weeks away, the voters will likely have an opportunity to fill two seats on the town’s second most important elected board with two outstanding candidates. And perhaps more will step forward before May 7 to volunteer their expertise.
Suzanne Allen and Sharlene Cronin deserve the thanks of Harvard residents and parents for volunteering to fill the School Committee seat left open by the January resignation of Mary Traphagen. They’re members of a new wave of younger residents, more recent arrivals who value Harvard’s volunteer-driven government and are ready to help make it work. That’s good news for our town. Gen-Xers arise. We salute you.
