At their April 8 meeting, the School Committee voted unanimously to accept interim Superintendent Joe Connelly's recommendation of Dr. Marie T. Harrington as the new Director of Pupil Services for the Harvard schools. Dr. Harrington has a background in psyhology, teaching, and business, with undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Boston College. She has been Director of Special Education in the Wachusett school district for the past 12 years.
Connelly explained that the name of the position has been changed from Director of Special Education to Director of Pupil Services because of increased responsibilities of the position. Some of these include acting as English Language Learner Coordinator, Health Services Coordinator, and serving as the Homeless Liaison.
