MassDevelopment announced that it is aiming to hold a Super Town Meeting June 10 to vote on a proposed redevelopment plan for Vicksburg Square. Director of Land Planning and Permitting Ed Starzec announced the target date at the March 7 meeting of the Harvard-Devens Jurisdiction Committee.
Vicksburg Square is a set of century-old Army barracks located next to Rogers Field, the former base parade ground. These large buildings are currently zoned for commercial use, but no business has shown interest in renovating them. The new plan would change zoning to allow for either commercial or residential use and would also allow the buildings to be torn down and replaced with modern construction if renovation proves infeasible.
While no dates have been set for future public hearings on the plan, Starzec has promised that such hearings will be held
