Rollstone Bank & Trust has donated $5,000 in support of United Way of North Central Massachusetts’ (UWNCM) “Leominster Flood Relief Fund."
On September 11, 2023, the city of Leominster experienced catastrophic Flash Flooding with more than 10 inches of rain in just six to seven hours. Dubbed by meteorologists as an event that takes place once every 500 years, the City of Leominster sustained substantial destruction including washed out roads, stranded vehicles, and damage to homes and businesses. The city declared a state of emergency as residents were evacuated from multiple areas due to a dam collapse and the formation of sinkholes. A town school served as an emergency shelter.
With many Leominster residents in need, the United Way of North Central Massachusetts collaborated with Leominster City officials and the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts to open the ‘Leominster Flood Relief Fund’ to provide financial assistance and supplies to residents impacted by the flash flooding.
UWNCM has coordinated with the City of Leominster to launch the Fund, and through a collaboration with the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts (CFNCM) and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF), donations to the Fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $75,000. One hundred percent of donations given to the Fund will go to support residents impacted by the flooding.
