The Professional Remodeling Organization New England (PRO New England) awarded Platt Builders, in Groton, three 2021 PRO Awards in the categories of:
Residential Bath Over $60,000
Residential Exterior Renovation
Residential Addition Over $200,000
Since 1992, hundreds of discerning homeowners in Middlesex County have chosen Platt Builders for distinctive custom homes, renovations, whole house remodels, and custom cabinetry -- all of enduring quality, beauty, and utility. These projects are just three stunning transformations in their entire body of work.
"We are so honored that these projects were recognized by PRO New England. It is a testament to our entire company and the hard work we do to make sure projects are done the right way. We work for amazing clients who appreciate the craftsmanship we put into their projects -- details that are evident in the final product. We will proudly display these awards," says Chris Brown, Director of Production for Platt Builders.
These three projects are excellent examples of the work we do. The exterior renovation, a younger Harvard home, was as much about maintenance and longevity as it was about beautification. Mother Nature wreaked her havoc over the years, but new energy-efficient and architecturally-significant improvements have breathed new life into this home. A special challenge to this project was the interior finishes were lovely and valuable. We engineered an installation process to replace insulation and windows without removing any interior plaster or trim -- it was all done from the outside! Engaging and architect who loves colonial details and clients who were enthusiastic about the project made this renovation a Platt favorite.
Like many of our projects, the award for the master bathroom transformation was not the first one we executed for this client; their award-winning kitchen project was completed several years earlier. It was finally time to upgrade the master bath to the same level of elegance as the rest of the home. Taking advantage of a soaring ceiling and newly-added windows, the new space didn't change in size yet feels significantly larger. Wrapped in high-endfinishes and complete with a custom vanity, the new bathroom is a spa-like retreat.
Also a repeat Platt client, the addition of a third floor onto a 1797 timber frame antique kept the peace in this family with four almost-teenaged daughters. The architect, Sally De Gan of SpaceCraft Architects, was inspired by Concord's gambrel-roofed "Old Manse." A fifth bedroom, office, and two bathrooms occupy the new level which is accessed by a gorgeous staircase that fits seamlessly into the second floor landing. Great care was taken to ensure little disruption to the lower levels of the home -- parts of which we renovated a few short years ago.
Platt Builders was presented the PRO Award at PRO New England’s Virtual Evening of Excellence event on Wednesday, June 2nd. This year, there were 75 projects submitted for PRO Awards across sixteen categories. A panel of eleven independent reviewers judged the project entries in a blind evaluation. Projects were judged on a 70 point scale with points awarded for how well the project met the client’s needs and enhanced the functionality and aesthetics of the space, innovative uses of materials and methods, the ability to overcome obstacles creatively, the craftsmanship displayed in the work, and the presentation of the project.
