St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ayer has announced the names of the organizations that will receive proceeds from the 3rd Annual Benefit Concert and Gala Reception which will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, at St. John’s Chapel, Groton School. The church’s Outreach Commission has chosen Loaves & Fishes, Esperanza Academy, and the Society of St. Margaret as beneficiaries.
Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry was founded in 1983 at St. Andrew’s which served the community from its church spaces. In 1997, the growing operation moved to its present location on Devens.
Esperanza Academy, in Lawrence, is a lottery-based, tuition free, middle school for 60 girls in grades 5-8. This independent school in the Episcopal tradition opened in 2006. Students attend school eleven hours each day for eleven months of the year, engaging in rigorous academic studies, music, art, sports and community volunteering.
The Society of St. Margaret is an Episcopal order of nuns founded in England in 1855. Their American mission was established in Boston in 1873. Their work with women and children is seen in Dorchester, MA, New York City, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
