The National Congress of State Games has named Reese Stevenson of Harvard as the top male youth athlete of the year for 2020. Stevenson was chosen from among the athletes who won at the state level.
Stevenson has competed in the Bay State Games since 2015 and has won eight medals. A 2020 graduate of Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire, he also played on the school’s rugby team. He swims for the Thoreau Sharks in Concord and has won many league titles and set several league records. He has also competed for many years at the AAU Junior Olympics, having won gold in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events in back-to-back years. Out of the pool, Stevenson was a member of the Kimball Union Fire Brigade, a group of students trained to help the local volunteer fire department, a dorm proctor, and was named outstanding male citizen of his junior class. Stevenson is currently a freshman at Bryant University, where he is a member of the men’s swimming team. He is the son of Rika and Will Stevenson of South Shaker Road.
