This is the last farmstand column until the Press returns from break August 9. While we’re away, lots of crops will come in and others will be over for the season, so check Facebook pages and websites of the various farms and orchards for what’s currently being sold or open for picking. Or better still, stop by and buy!
This week, Brookdale Fruit Farm cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, English peas, zucchini, and summer squash. Cherries should be ready for picking soon, and blueberries should be ready around July 15. In the coming weeks, Brookdale will have onions, tomatoes, and peppers. Check the website or Facebook page for updates.
Blueberries and raspberries will be ready for picking July 9, and prepicked berries will be available at the stand. Peaches should be on the stand by mid to late July.
This week, lettuce, kale, herbs, broccoli, and strawberries. Blueberry picking will start soon, and summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and other summer veggies will be in the store over the next month; check the website for updates.
