727 residents voted in Harvard's Town Election Tuesday, April 4, approximately 17 percent of registered voters. In the two contested races Ken Swanton and Kara Minar won seats on the Board of Selectmen, and John Lee became a new cemetery commissioner. All four ballot questions passed.

Town Meeting, formerly scheduled for this Saturday, April 1, will start on Monday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in Cronin Auditorium.. Day two will be on Wednesday, April 5, at 7 p. m. in upper Town Hall. The Moderator has made an official declaration of recess and continuance, in light of the impending storm Friday into Saturday.  Town Election is unchanged; it is still scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Bromfield.

Town shutting down in advance of March 14 storm

Harvard Schools and town facilities will be closed all day tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14, in anticipation of a record-breaking snow storm. The closures include Hildreth Elementary School, the Bromfield School, Town Hall, the Council on Aging at Hildreth House, and the Harvard Public Library. The national weather service is predicting 12-18" or more of snow accumulation in central Massachusetts.

When Special Town Meeting convenes tomorrow night, the two warrant articles will have the support of the town’s capital and finance committees as well as the Board of Selectmen, but as of Monday morning the method of financing to be used for the first article had yet to be settled.
