A husband and wife that police say were involved in a double shooting that left one of them dead and the other injured at a home on Martha’s Vineyard have Harvard connections.
According to a statement from Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe’s office, around 7:45 this morning, Kenneth Bloomquist, 64, went to a home at 19 Skiffs Lane, West Tisbury, and shot his wife, Cynthia Bloomquist, after apparently breaking into the house.
Police responded after Cynthia Bloomquist called 911, the district attorney’s statement says. Police found Cynthia Bloomquist upstairs with gunshot wounds to her torso, according to the statement. The district attorney’s office said Cynthia Bloomquist was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, where she is being treated.
Kenneth Bloomquist was found dead inside the house with apparent gunshot wounds, the district attorney’s statement says. Kenneth Bloomquist had been living off the island, the statement says.
The district attorney’s office said the incident remains under investigation and more information may be available early next week.
The Bloomquists are listed in the 2011 Harvard street list as living at an address on South Shaker Road. According to records on file with the Worcester County Registry of Deeds, the couple sold their Harvard property on Oct. 25, 2011, for $520,000.
Multiple online business listings name Kenneth Bloomquist as owner of the Harvard-based Harvard Images, an aerial photography company.
According to a report in the Martha’s Vineyard Times, the Bloomquists were longtime seasonal residents of West Tisbury and owned the house on Skiffs Lane.
