On Saturday, July 14, Bravehearts Friends of Dylan Connelly will hold its sixth annual Ride & Family Day at Fruitlands Museum from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event raises money to help fund innovative medicines and memorable experiences for families facing devastating medical diagnoses. This year the goal is $40,000; all proceeds go to Camp Sunshine, a retreat in Casco, Maine, that supports children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The fee is $50 for both the 50- and 25-mile rides; kids ride is $15. The rolling start begins at 9 a.m. A thank-you T-shirt and hat will be given to riders who raise $200 or more from sponsors.
The event is also about celebrating community, and there will be live music, yoga, crafts and games for kids, and food, soda, and beer for purchase. To register for the ride and to see a complete schedule of events, go to www.braveheartsfodc.com.
