Harvard Community Conference (HC2) is a townwide forum Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at upper Town Hall addressing the topic of identity. Who are we? What defines us? No admission charge. A variety of speakers will share stories about their identity and how they have been shaped by their personal, local, and global experiences:
- Didi Chadran on how names influence one’s identity.
- John Chapman on his journey from international lawyer to jazz musician.
- Suraiya Suliman on her experiences as a female immigrant engineer of color.
- Betsy Petersen on how being a mom was her first real identity and how the loss of her daughter shaped that.
- Roland Gibson on teaching at Bromfield during the Civil Rights movement and how race influences our social identities.
- Ewelina Rudnicka on her identity as a Polish Australian and how her childhood led to a career in public policy and human rights.
- Kira Houston on growing up as a transgender guy.
- Lucy Wallace on how being involved in local government influenced her identity.
- Fernando Catalina on how our professions don’t define us and how our many intersectional identities come together to make us who we are.
