Team places second overall
The Bromfield girls indoor track team came home from the Feb. 19 MIAA Indoor track championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston with a first-place win in the 4x400-meter relay and the runner-up trophy for placing second in the meet overall.
Junior Mimi Narbonne anchored the 4x400-meter team to victory in an exciting finish, where she overtook the competition in the last 100 yards for the win. The other team members were freshman Alyssa Johnson and juniors Sydney Durand and Kim West, all of whom turned in strong performances in other races as well.
Narbonne was an outstanding performer at the meet, winning the 600M in 1:36.97, one second off the meet record. Her time ranked as the fourth fastest time run in the state this season. Durand placed third in the 1,000M; West took fifth place in the 300M.
The 4x800 team of seventh-grader Sophia Collins and juniors Alice Kennedy, Margaret Kibbler, and Emma Rothkopf finished sixth, scoring the final point that propelled Bromfield into second place in the team scoring. Rothkopf also competed in the mile, finishing 20th.
Competing for the boys, senior Max Flaton finished second in the 2-mile, followed by sophomore Ellis Toll, who was 11th in that race. Sophomore Nick Kronauer finished sixth in the mile.
Flaton and the girls 4x400 team will compete in the All-State meet Feb. 26 against the top five competitors in other divisions.
