A Sunday concert honors Jim Wallace

John Blackwell conducts the Nashoba Valley Concert Band at a concert held in memory of Jim Wallace on Oct. 3. Wallace, who died in July, was a member of the band’s trumpet section for more than 20 years.

Jim’s son Ben, grandson Jack, wife Lucy, and Kathy Jackson listen to the band’s rendition of “Trumpeter’s Holiday.”

Lucy Wallace embraces Debbie Kaegebein after Kaegebein spoke about Jim’s years of singing with the Congregational Church choir.

Jim’s trumpet rests on an empty chair in his memory.

I expected to see the photos of family, band members, speakers, and friends. However, the lone image of Jim's trumpet resting on an empty chair caused a catch in my throat and my eyes to well. Very powerful. Jim will be missed, even quietly from afar in Virginia.
