Voters at Thursday's special Town Meeting should approve the additional $540,385 that must be authorized in order for the town center sewer project to proceed. Authorization for the project in 2009 came after exhaustive analysis of alternatives, and was the best way to address both defects in the school septic system and expansion to meet town center needs.
If voters say no, it is likely that the next vote will be to make overdue repairs, for a similar cost to the town, without the benefit of 2 percent financing. There will be no choice, because without the repairs, schools will be unable to operate. It will cost more, for a long time, and there will be no septic solution for town center properties, public or private.
Don't think twice; say yes.
