My name is Matthew Cook and this is my first edition as editor of the Harvard Press. I started work at the Press last Monday, and in the week and a half I've been on board I've been very impressed with the dedication of the Press staff and the level of engagement of the Press readers and the Harvard community in general.
I come to the Press after close to seven years in journalism, the past five here in Massachusetts. The first paper I worked for was in New York state, in a rural area not unlike Harvard.
Communities like Harvard can't be taken for granted. It's nice to see that, by and large, the residents here have taken a special interest in maintaining the character and quality of life here. I hope that, as editor of the only independently-owned paper in town, I can contribute something to that effort.
I'm sure I'll be meeting many of you while I'm out on the beat, Feel free anytime to stop by our office (1 Still River Road, above the General Store) or give me a call (978-456-3700) to talk about the news, Harvard, or just introduce yourself. You can also email me at editor@harvardpress.com.
After a four-week summer break, the Harvard Press is back in action, with a new editor. Thanks for reading and I hope you'll continue to turn to us as your best source for news about your hometown.
