We wish we could report a more comprehensive status of next year’s budget—what decisions have been made, what decisions remain, and what the process is for completing the job. But despite having reporters at every posted meeting of the Finance Committee, the Board of Selectmen, and the School Committee, we have to admit, we don’t have a very clear picture, so we can’t tell readers what is happening. We hope these questions will be answered soon, and that voters will go to Town Meeting and town election with a full understanding of what they are being asked to approve, and how it represents the best use of available resources. Those responsible for making these recommendations have a lot of work left to do.
