We applaud the selectmen’s establishment of an economic analysis team to focus on Devens. The Devens disposition question has been hung up for awhile now on the question of what the financial impact would be to the towns of resuming jurisdiction over what is now the Devens Regional Enterprise Zone (DREZ). The Joint Boards of Selectmen (JBOS) has asked MassDevelopment (MassDev) repeatedly for financial information, but has said that the information provided was incomplete. Now, with one committee focused on the financial question, maybe solid answers will finally be forthcoming, and we can move the disposition question along. We look forward to DEAT forming quickly and digging in.
