The topic of what to do with the buildings in town center that have been, or are being, vacated, is one the town has been circling back to over the last few years.
Should town offices be moved from Town Hall? Should the Town Hall be turned into a tavern? Should the old library be turned into an arts center? How about a home for retired selectmen at Hildreth House?
On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Municipal Buildings Task Force will host a charrette in the old library from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., during which time residents will have a chance to share their ideas about what activities should be housed in some of these buildings. After a morning of creative brainstorming, workshop attendees will be treated to a light lunch—homemade soup, courtesy of Chef Paul.
It would be easy to opt out, in favor of skiing at Wachusett Mountain, skating on the reservoir, or reading a book in front of a cozy fire. But people who care about the future of town center need to make this meeting a priority.
