The dog days of summer have finally arrived. (We wondered if they were coming at all this year!) The oppressive heat has caused people to go into hibernation in air-conditioned refuges or the pond. Before long, committees that took a brief summer hiatus will be “back in the hunt,” school will be starting, the rhythm of town life will pick up, and the “Current Events” section of the Press will be filled to overflowing. But for now it’s quiet. It’s so quiet, it makes us wonder about issues in town that have also been quiet for a while: the town’s master plan, the town center sewer plans, proposed bylaws on wind turbines and marijuana use, and plans to establish an economic development strategy for the town, to name a few. These are among the topics we’ll be watching, now that our own summer break is over. Stay tuned.
