We were surprised to learn this week that Selectman Bob Eubank has questioned the usefulness of an outside audit of the town’s special education process. We believe the town should require a regular audit, given the amount of money spent on special ed. An audit could tell us if we should budget more money for legal expenses to defend difficult decisions, and, if nothing else, would restore taxpayer confidence that we are spending money appropriately. We strongly encourage our elected officials to request the audit.
