Plans for a “green” housing development at Devens come as exciting news. The project will not only fulfill plans for expanded housing at Devens, but could also be a model for future housing construction standards, and could create more of those “green jobs” that both Governor Patrick and President Obama see as a keystone to economic recovery. The “zero net-energy” homes planned for the development will surely have a lighter impact on the environment than “typical” homes, and will undoubtedly benefit the future homeowners by generating lower bills for heating, cooling, and electricity. This project will be one to watch.
