Labor Day, back to school, homework, tests, soccer games, football games, track meets, trick-or-treating, basketball games, music festivals, drama performances, science fairs, baseball games, lacrosse games, MCAS tests, SATs, community service projects, college applications, the prom, speeches, tears, hugs, good-byes—all are steps in a seemingly choreographed high school waltz that begins when students enter ninth grade and continues with each passing week, month, and year, taking them ever closer to the door that will open to the rest of their lives. For the Bromfield Class of 2008 the waltz comes to a climax next Friday, June 6, when members don cap and gown and, with much pomp and circumstance, receive diplomas that will confer upon them the status of young people ready to take the next step in the waltz of life.
We congratulate the graduates—each one of them uniquely amazing (is there something in the water here?). We hope they acknowledge and appreciate the tools they have been given—the remarkable education they have received, the values they have been taught—and use them to somehow make a difference in this world.
We wish them the very best as they dance off to chase their dreams.
