There’s plenty in the new Harvard Charter to make a tasty meal for the policy wonks who actually enjoy reading Press stories about the ins and outs of town government. But the charter is a challenge to our Style Guide. For years we’ve been able to refer to members of the Board of Selectmen as, well, selectmen. But what to do with members of a Select Board? Same people, but how should we refer to them, singly or collectively? How about:
“The Selected Ones”
“The Elected Selected”
