Former Harvard resident, U.S. Coast Guard veteran
Paul R. Curley, 77, of Leominster, formerly of Harvard, died July 15, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Born in Boston July 28, 1932, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hanley) Curley. He moved to Harvard at the age of 7, attending school and graduating from the Bromfield School.
He served on board ships while on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He returned to civilian life and was married to his first wife, Marilyn Pearlstein, for 33 years until her death. In 1991 he married Cynthia Hardy. The couple lived in Harvard and Leominster.
Uncle Paul, as he was known to many people, had the gifts of humor and the telling of tall tales. Wherever he ventured, laughter followed.
Paul was a truck driver who worked for Lonestar and San Vel. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 170. He was a licensed auctioneer and was always busy with extra jobs.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia, his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Madigan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife; his brothers, William and Joseph; and his sisters, Bernadette, Mary, and Helen.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family.
