The seventh annual Ya Gotta Regatta will be held Saturday, July 12. This is a “just for fun” race—everyone is invited. Canoes and kayaks are sent on a treasure hunt around the pond while the sailboats are rounding marks at the far ends of the pond. There will be prizes for the best crew costumes, best boat decorations, youngest skipper, oldest skipper, fastest boats in all categories, largest crew, and more.

Town boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. (You must have passed the swim test and boat checkout to use a town boat.)

There will be a skipper’s meeting at 1 p.m. to discuss the rules and to hand out maps; the race starts at 2 p.m. The cost to register is $20 per boat, which includes a cookout after the race.

Property inspections by assessors are underway

The Board of Assessors wishes to notify Harvard residents that beginning in June and running through September, inspections will be conducted throughout the town. These inspections will be conducted Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. by the assessor, Angela M. Marrama and the assistant assessor, Celia Jornet.

Any property owner who has pulled a building permit in the last year and any one who did not finish work on previous permits can expect a visit from the assessing department staff. We will also be conducting cyclical inspections as mandated by the Department of Revenue to ensure accuracy of our assessing records.

If any property owner receives an assessor’s card on their door indicating a visit, please call and set up an appointment as soon as possible. The assessing department would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation with this very important matter.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Assessors’ Office at 978-456-4100 or by email at amarrama@harvard.ma.us.
