If you are wondering what programs and activities the Council on Aging offers this month, there’s an easy way to find out at 9 a.m. every day on Channel 192, Harvard Cable TV. HCTV’s new program, “Senior Spotlight,” gives an overview of the COA’s events, classes, and trips for the coming weeks. The program is also on at 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays (if you aren’t a morning person) and will soon be online at www.harvardcabletv.com.
Hosted by COA Director Debbie Thompson, the first episode of “Senior Spotlight” was recorded last week and will be broadcast daily this month. HCTV will present a new installment each month with updated information.
The December episode covers a wide range of seasonal events, from the annual Girl Scout tea and the festive holiday dinner, both to be held at St. Theresa’s, to an outing at Tower Hill Botanic Gardens to see “Winter Reimagined,” the spectacular multi-acre lighting display.
“Senior Spotlight” reminds viewers of the many programs the COA offers for good health: yoga, tai chi, line dancing, and more. If you are making New Year’s resolutions, a new cardio class is starting in January. Or if you just want to socialize, drop-in programs at Hildreth House include coffees or the chance to play bridge, cribbage, or mahjong.
From a workshop on writing your family history to a program on the life and times of Frank Sinatra, the COA offers an amazing variety of events and opportunities for lifelong learning. And “Senior Spotlight” is a quick way to review what’s coming up.
“Just drop in,” said Thompson, inviting viewers to Hildreth House. “You are totally welcome.”
