Police Log: January 17–23, 2012

Tuesday, January 17
At 10:44 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity at an Armstrong Road address. Police say the issue was between a tenant and a landlord. Police say they gave advice to the two parties, and the tenant and landlord will work out their disagreements between themselves.

Wednesday, January 18
At 5:07 p.m., police pulled over a car on Ayer Road for having a loud exhaust. Police charged the driver, Nicholas D. Miller, 29, of Groton, with driving with a suspended license, subsequent offense; operating a vehicle without a license; and an equipment violation for the bad exhaust. Miller was processed by Clinton District Court and released on bail, police say. His car was towed.

Thursday, January 19
At 1:18 a.m., a Harvard woman called police to say her adult son was late returning home. Police say the woman’s son was soon located and he was fine. At 11:53 a.m., a caller reported seeing someone in a car on the side of Westcott Road peering out the window through a pair of binoculars or a camera. Police checked the area but could not locate anyone matching that description.

Friday, January 20
At 7:33 a.m., police investigated a two-car accident on Ayer Road. According to police, a car heading north on Ayer road crashed into the rear quarter panel of a car pulling out of the parking lot from Dunkin’ Donuts and turning left. The driver of the car pulling out of the parking lot was issued a citation for failure to use care in starting/turning. There were no injuries, police say; the car that was heading north on Ayer Road had to be towed away. At 11:11 p.m., after pulling over a driver on Ayer Road, police issued the driver a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a license. The driver possessed less than an ounce of what was suspected to be marijuana, police say. The driver’s car was towed away.
Saturday, Jan. 21: At 8:33 a.m., police got a report of an accident involving a motor vehicle and a stone wall near the intersection of Stow Road and Westcott Road. The incident did not require investigation, police say. At 3:27 p.m., police responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle accident on Ayer Road. The accident involved one car and there were no injuries, police say. At 4:11 p.m., a resident of Still River Road reported to police that there was a car parked facing the wrong direction across the street. Police say they spoke to the car’s driver and the driver moved the car.

Sunday, January  22
At 6:11 p.m., the Harvard Fire Department responded to a call for mutual aid in Berlin for a major fire. No other details are available.

Monday, January 23
At 2:23 p.m., according to police, the owner of a horse farm on Littleton County Road came by the station to report that, a day earlier, after investigating a house alarm that had gone off, the owner had discovered a horse standing outside its stall and water running nearby. At 3:25 p.m., a Harvard resident came to the police station to speak to an officer about a possible case of identity theft. The officer gave the resident information on how to proceed. At 3:33 p.m., the Massachusetts State Police requested help locating someone for a health and welfare check. According the Harvard Police, the State Police were attempting to track the person’s cell phone and suspected he or she was in the area of Prospect Hill Road. Harvard Police responded with State Police and Boxborough Police to the area, but didn’t locate the person in Harvard.
