The Bromfield boys and girls track teams participated Saturday in the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association freshman-sophomore championship meet at the Reggie Lewis Center. Highlights of the day included Alexia Lipman’s setting a new record for the meet in the 1,000-meter run.
Lipman’s time of 3:04.07 crushed the existing record of 3:08.12, set in 2006. Lipman took an early lead in the race and outdistanced a field of over 70 runners in the competition.
An excellent performance was also turned in by Paul Malloy who finished third in the boys 1,000-meter, running the distance in 2:46.96.
Brianna Harte finished tenth in the girls shot put with a mighty heave of 27 feet, 1.5 inches. The mark bested her own personal record by over three feet.
Placing ninth in the boys mile was Price Day.
Also participating in the meet were Reiny Foster and Casey Russell in the 55-meter dash, Brenna Harrington in the 600-meter, and Matt Polimou in the two-mile.
