Police Log: January 3–9, 2012

Tuesday, January 3
At 10:45 a.m., a resident of Tahanto Trail reported an unknown red sedan had driven past her house several times and when the driver saw her standing at the window, he or she took off. Police searched the area but report they did not locate a car matching that description. At 7:18 p.m., Concord Police asked Harvard Police to check on a Harvard resident who was suspected of being suicidal. Police say they located the woman and she was taken in for mental health treatment. At 10:18 p.m., police say, they gave a verbal warning to the drivers of two cars, one with a broken headlight, that were parked after dark at the overlook, on Prospect Hill Road.

Wednesday, January 4
At 11:10 p.m., according to police, a police officer noticed the gate was open to Harvard Outdoor Power Equipment on Ayer Road. The officer called for backup and investigated further. Police contacted the owner of the business, who, police say, reported that someone had stolen two lawnmowers: one valued at $13,000 and one at $2,600. Police say they have a suspect but have not yet made an arrest.

Thursday, January 5
At 12:15 p.m., a resident of Woodside Road reported receiving a suspicious phone call from someone identifying himself as a locksmith. The caller then hung up, the resident told police.

Friday, January 6
At 8:39 a.m., police received a report that someone had dumped a large stove in front of a business on Ayer Road. Police called the Department of Public Works to remove the stove. At 9:35 a.m., police received another report of trash dumping. According to police, a resident of Old Shirley Road came to the police station to report a bag of trash had been dumped on his property. Using an envelope found in the trash, police say, they contacted the owner of the trash and told him either to remove it or face charges. Police say the owner of the trash claimed he didn’t know how it got there, but agreed to remove it anyway.

Saturday, January 7
At 1:39 p.m., a caller reported that a car had driven through the intersection of Ayer and Still River roads without stopping. Police checked the area but report not finding the car in question. At 11:47 p.m., Harvard Police assisted Littleton Police respond to a possible breaking and entering at a gas station on Route 2A.

Sunday, January 8
At 4:13 p.m., police say, a woman reported that she was walking her dog and it was bitten by another dog on Finn Road. According to police, the woman said the owner of the other dog was rude and yelled at her. Police referred the complaint to animal control.

Monday, January 9
At 11:31 a.m., police recovered from Brown Road a green pillowcase containing various items, including jewelry. Police say they determined the items had been reported stolen in a robbery in Lincoln. At 1:31 p.m., police received a report of three men wearing “hoodies” standing at the corner of East Bare Hill and Westcott roads. Police say the men were employees at a work site nearby. At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man dressed all in black walking on Stow Road near the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue. Police say they spoke to the man, who said he was walking to a house on Stow Road, was almost there, and was using an app on his cellphone as a flashlight.
