Police Log: December 13–December 19, 2011

The Harvard Police say they would like to remind all residents to keep the doors to their homes and cars closed and locked at all times.

Tuesday, December 13
At 4:42 p.m., a caller reported a white panel van with a ladder on top and yellow and black lettering on the side had driven through the area of Blanchard Road and Lancaster County Road several times. Police checked the area but could not locate a vehicle matching that description. At 5:03 p.m., a Stow Road resident told police a Budget rental truck had parked in the resident’s driveway and the driver had asked for directions to Codman Hill Road. The truck drove off in the wrong direction, the resident told police. Police checked the area but report not finding a truck matching that description.

Wednesday, December 14
At 9:54 a.m., police stood by while a parked trailer that was obstructing traffic near the intersection of Ayer and Poor Farm roads was moved. At 12:39 p.m., police received a report of a white BMW speeding on Jacob Gates Road. According to police, the caller suspected he knew the driver. Police say they checked the caller’s suspicion against RMV records. There is no record of police speaking to the suspected driver. At 12:41 p.m., a resident of Woodside Road told police her dog sitter said there was a suspicious black truck parked at her house. According to police, the resident later called back to report the dog sitter was mistaken; the truck was gray and not suspicious.

Thursday, December 15
At 8:50 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle speeding on Littleton Road at about 80 miles per hour and passing cars dangerously. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle. At 9 a.m., a Still River Road resident reported getting a phone call from someone claiming to be with a bank and asking for the resident’s social security number. Police say they called the number and confirmed it was a legitimate bank calling. The resident could also use a phone number or account number for identification, the bank told police. At 9:51 a.m., according to police, a Harvard resident came to the police station to report a man had taken money from her in exchange for firewood but had never delivered the firewood. Police say the incident is still under investigation.

Friday, December 16
At 2:23 p.m., police responded to Lovers Lane for a report of a tree-cutting truck blocking the road. Police say the truck left shortly after that. At 7:57 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop on Route 2 westbound, police arrested Christian Martinez, 25, of 250 Mansfield Ave., Norton, for driving with a suspended license and revoked registration, and on an outstanding warrant. Martinez’s car was towed away, police say.

Saturday, December 17
At 4:56 p.m., police responded with the Harvard Ambulance Service to a home on Old Littleton Road for a report of the sudden death of a female resident there. Police did not report the cause of death.

Sunday, December 18
At 9:22 a.m., a resident of Tahanto Trail reported finding the doors to her car were ajar and the glovebox appeared to have been gone through. Nothing was missing from the car, police report, and there was no damage. At 2:12 p.m., police received a similar report from a resident of Warren Ave. At 5:21 p.m., police received a report of two cows and a pony blocking the road on Still River Road. Animal control contacted the animals’ owner and the owner got them out of the road, police say.

Monday, December 19
At 8:57 a.m., police investigated a report of vandalism at the Bromfield School. The screen on the window to the nurse’s office was bent out of its track, police say. Police report finding no evidence of a break-in and say the screen was most likely bent accidentally. At 11:36 p.m., police responded to Woodside Road for a report of stolen snow poles. Police say they charged two teenagers with vandalism for the incident.
