Police Log: November 29–December 5, 2011

 Tuesday, November 29
At 5:46 p.m., police responded to an accident involving a town vehicle on Stow Road. According to police, a fire department vehicle had hit a deer. The deer survived the impact and disappeared into the woods, police say. The vehicle was still drivable and the driver was not injured. At 11:19 p.m., a caller from Harvard Veterinary Clinic reported finding a dog tied to a fence post there with a sign on its collar that said “help me.” There were no tags on the dog that could lead to its owner, police say. According to police, the veterinary clinic took the dog in. Its current condition is unknown.

Wednesday, November 30
At 6:52 a.m., police responded with the fire department and the fire marshal to investigate an old rocking chair that had been set on fire and left on the Old Littleton Road bridge over Route 2. Police currently have no suspects in the incident. At 5:26 p.m., a police investigated a report of log trucks cutting trees at conservation land off Murray Lane. Police report the trucks were actually cutting trees in private property that borders the conservation land.

Thursday, December 1
At 2:07 p.m., police received a report of a missing hand gun from a home on Myrick Lane. The homeowner suspected it was stolen but couldn’t say when, police say. The incident is under investigation.

Friday, December 2
At 9:50 p.m., police investigated suspicious activity at the train tracks on Still River Depot Road. Two teenagers were parked there, police say. Police sent the teenagers on their way. At 11:58 p.m., police responded to a home on Old Littleton Road for a report eggs had been thrown at it. The resident described seeing a Toyota Highlander driving away from the scene, but police were unable to find a vehicle matching that description.

Saturday, December 3
At 9:42 a.m., a resident of Old Littleton Road reported someone had broken into an unlocked car in the driveway and gone through it but hadn’t taken anything. At 11:56 a.m., a resident of another home on Old Littleton Road reported a similar incident. Police are investigating the incidents. At 4:47 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Littleton County Road. According to police, the driver of a car turning off of Littleton County Road failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a car coming down Massachusetts Avenue. Both cars had to be towed; there were no injuries, police say. The driver of the car coming from Littleton County Road was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign. At 10:57 p.m., police stopped a car on Still River Road after Bolton Police had reported it driving erratically. Harvard Police spoke to the driver, made an evaluation, and sent her on her way. It was an elderly Harvard resident who was heading home and having some difficulty driving in the dark, police say.

Sunday, December 4
At midnight, a caller reported a dog barking and howling in the neighborhood around East Bare Hill Road and St. John Lane. An officer checked the area but could not locate or hear the dog, police report. At 12:53 p.m., police recovered a bike that had been abandoned off Pond Road. The bike is a black and yellow Schwinn SR Suntour with a flat tire, police say. Whoever owns the bike may claim it at the police station.

Monday. December 5
At 7:45 a.m., police received another report of a car break-in on Old Littleton Road. Because of the multiple car break-in reports, the rocking chair that was set on fire, and the egging incident all on Old Littleton Road within a week, police say they have increased patrols in the area.
