Fruitlands Museum has announced it is receiving a $73,000 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund for roof repairs to its recently renovated art gallery as well as accessibility improvements.

Statewide, the Cultural Facilities Fund grants totaled $7.4 million this year and will go towards repairs, improvements, and expansions for 54 organizations that plan to invest nearly $275 million in their projects. Grants awarded ranged between $14,000 and $250,000.

“We are extremely grateful to Governor Patrick and the state of Massachusetts for recognizing the value of investing in nonprofits such as Fruitlands,” said Kerry Castorano, Fruitlands director of development. “The repairs have enabled us to provide a much-needed update to our art gallery here for both the benefit of our visitors, as well as the protection of our valuable standing collections and exhibits.”

The Cultural Facilities Fund is one of several grant programs at the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency supporting the arts, humanities, and sciences to improve the quality of life in the state and its communities. The cultural council pursues this mission through grants, services, and advocacy for nonprofit cultural organizations, schools, communities, and artists.
