Murphy Insurance collects for Toys for Tots

The holiday season is here and Murphy Insurance Agency is pitching in to help kids by sponsoring a Toys for Tots Drive at its seven locations in Bolton, Groton, Harvard, Hudson, Marlborough, Mendon, and Medway. The agency is reaching out to the community to support families in need.

“Because we talk with so many people on a daily basis, we’re very aware of the increased number of families facing financial challenges this year,” said CEO Dennis F. Murphy Jr. “By organizing this toy drive and being a drop-off spot, we hope to ensure happier holidays for children in need and their families.”

Murphy served in the Marines, which adds an extra personal element to the agency’s drive.

This is the 63rd year that the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program has been in action.

Toys are needed for children ages newborn to 18 years. Donations should be new, unwrapped toys and can be made at 276 Ayer Road, Harvard, or all Murphy Insurance offices in the Toys for Tots drop-off box.

Help decorate the Mitten Tree

The Harvard Girl Scouts continue their tradition of helping others this holiday season with the Mitten Tree. The tree will be in the children’s room of the Harvard Public Library from Monday, Nov. 28, until  Friday, Dec. 9. Everyone is encouraged to stop by and decorate the tree with a new pair of gloves or mittens (adult and child sizes). The mittens will be taken to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in time for its “Shop for Your Kids” day.
