Police Log: November 15–21, 2011

Tuesday, November 15
At 11:11 a.m., police responded to a home on Littleton Road for a report of a death. A man there with a history of heart problems had died, police say. A State Police medical examiner reported nothing suspicious about the death, and a funeral home was contacted to pick up the body. At 6:32 p.m., police received reports of gunshots heard in the area of Woodside Road. According to police, residents of nearby West Bare Hill Road said they thought the noise sounded more like fireworks. Police did not locate whoever had launched the fireworks.

Wednesday, November 16
At 6:49 p.m., police responded to a minor two-car accident on Ayer Road. A driver pulling out of the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts had run into another car heading north on Ayer Road. No injuries were reported. Police issued the driver of the car that was coming out of the parking lot a written warning. At 9:43 p.m., police responded to Fruitlands on Prospect Hill Road after an alarm went off. The alarm was set off accidentally, police say, and nothing was out of order.

Thursday, November 17
At 12:57 p.m., police responded to a Bowers Road home after a burglar alarm went off. The alarm was set off accidentally, police say. At 5:41 p.m., a Harvard resident came to the police station to speak to an officer about an incident between students at Hildreth Elementary School. Police referred the resident to school officials. At 9:22 p.m., police responded to a commercial burglar alarm going off at Fruitlands on Prospect Hill Road. Nothing was found out of order, police report.

Friday, November 18
At 2:28 p.m., a student at the Bromfield School reported vandalism to the student’s car, which was parked in the upper parking lot. Someone had scratched a vulgarity into the car’s door, police say. Police started an investigation. At 4:29 p.m., police investigated a residential panic alarm going off at a home on Bolton Road. According to police, the homeowner was testing the system and didn’t know it was going to summon police.

Saturday, November 19
At 1:16 a.m., police checked out an open basement door at a home on Pond Road. Nothing was missing and all was clear, police say. At 4 p.m., police responded to a report of skateboarders in the road near the intersection of Old Littleton Road and Fairbank Street. There were two skaters, police say, one from Boston and one from Andover. They had come to Harvard, they told police, after hearing of its hilly roads. Police asked the skateboarders to stop for the night, as it was getting dark.

Sunday, November 20
At 5:26 p.m., police responded to a residential burglar alarm going off at a home on Depot Road. The alarm was set off accidentally, police report.

Monday, November 21
At 9:19 a.m., a resident of Bolton Road came to the police station to report that two cars had been broken into in her driveway. Neither of the cars was damaged, but both appeared to have been opened and their glove compartments and center consoles gone through, the resident told police. Thirty dollars was missing from one of the cars, the resident said. According to police, both cars had been left unlocked overnight. At 1:03 p.m., a Harvard Police detective served a search warrant at an address on Willard Street in Ayer. According to police, the detective was investigating the theft of a gas grill stolen from a Harvard home on Oct. 18. At a detectives’ meeting in Concord, the Harvard detective had learned Ayer Police had searched the home for something else and he recognized the grill in a picture Ayer Police had taken inside the home. The missing grill was discovered inside the Ayer home. Police have not yet filed charges against the resident of that address, but will be doing so soon, police say.
