Heat/utility assistance
The 2011-12 heating season is here. Through the New England Farm Worker’s Council there is a fuel assistance program that the Council on Aging can help you with, and in addition, for Harvard residents only, there is HEAT, the Harvard Energy Assistance Team. If you are concerned about paying your heating bill, let the Council on Aging know. Don’t be left out in the cold!
Lunch with the Girl Scouts
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, 10 Girl Scouts and their leader, Chris O’Shea, will join seniors at the Hildreth House Cafe for lunch and conversation. The girls will bring homemade cakes and pies to share for dessert. Please come for this special holiday inter-generational event.
On the road with COA

- Friday, Dec. 9. The Council on Aging will lead a trip to a Christmas show at the Reagle Music Theatre (wheelchair accessible). The show has a cast of hundreds, including Rockettes doing all the dances you would see on Broadway. It also includes nativity scenes, sing-alongs, and more. This is an evening show, starting at 7:30 p.m. Payment of $45 is required at time of reservation.
- Friday, Dec. 30. Because of no van availability on Saturdays, the Council on Aging will be celebrating New Year’s Eve on Friday in a private dining room at the Top of the Hub in Boston. Appetizers, lunch, and dessert, along with hats, noisemakers, and more highlight this annual trip. It’s a dressy occasion for all, with door-to-door van service. Payment of $60 is required at time of reservation.
