iPad 101

The iPad has burst on the scene, with people from all walks of life enjoying it, from business owners to happy retirees. The Council on Aging is now offering a class specifically designed to help you learn about the iPad, taught by Mike Peters and Adam Miller on Friday, Nov. 18, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 to sign up. Class size is limited to 10.

Elementary school volunteer opportunity

Seniors have the opportunity to participate in the first-grade reading program at Hildreth Elementary School. Volunteers are needed on weekday mornings from 9:45 to 10:20 a.m. Each volunteer will be assigned to one of the four first grade classrooms to listen to students read.

If you are interested in volunteering, call Nancy Lancelotti at 978-456-3949, or the Council on Aging.

On the road with COA

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more details or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.

  • Monday, Nov. 14. Participants will get a glimpse of daily life in Pompeii, one of Imperial Rome’s most cosmopolitan cities, when the COA travels to the Museum of Science in Boston. Hundreds of artifacts bring to light the vibrancy of this bustling resort town before Vesuvius spewed ash and debris upon it. The van leaves at 8 a.m. and will return, after lunch at the CambridgeSide Galleria, at approximately 3 p.m. The cost is $30 and is due with your reservation.
