Greetings from Fiji

While the rest of the town suffered through the fallout of the October snowstorm huddled around woodstoves or in line for soup at the emergency shelter at the Bromfield School, the staff of the Harvard Press went to Fiji.

Unfortunately for the Press staff, in this case Fiji isn’t the name of an island nation in the South Pacific but a conference room in the Boxborough headquarters of the technology firm Egenera. Along with everyone else in Harvard, the Press lost power at its office above the General Store and was forced to relocate.

We at the Press are extremely grateful to Egenera CEO Pete Manca, vice president of human resources Chris Hill, and the entire Egenera team for their hospitality. Thanks to them, we were able to complete this week’s paper and provide our readers with our thorough reporting of the storm and its consequences without missing a beat.

At the Press we pride ourselves on our presence in the midst of the community. It’s nice to know, however, that in case of emergency, we have a backup plan.
