Welcome tea
The Council on Aging board of directors invites residents to attend a welcome tea for the new COA director Debbie Thompson. The event will be on Monday, Sept. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hildreth House. Come meet Debbie for the first time or welcome her again if you’ve already met her.
On the road with COA
Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more details or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.
- Friday, Sept. 9: The COA will visit the museum that holds the largest and most significant collection of original Norman Rockwell art. Highlights include enduring favorites from Rockwell’s Saturday Evening Post covers and the powerful Four Freedoms paintings. The group will have lunch before the tour at Once Upon a Table in Stockbridge. The group will leave at 9 a.m. and plans to return by 5 p.m. The cost is $20.00 lunch and payment is required with your reservation.
- Wednesday, Sept. 14: Once again, seniors are invited to final dress rehearsals at Theatre III in Acton. On Wednesday, Sept. 14 they will see “Jekyll & Hyde,” the Gothic musical thriller. The group will leave Hildreth House at 7:30 p.m. and return around 10 p.m. The cost is only $5 for the van.
- Tuesday, Sept. 20: Situated on a hilltop with a panoramic view of Grand Monadnock, the Cathedral of the Pines is a breathtaking open-air cathedral and meeting space on 236 acres. The COA group will have a guided tour plus a description of the cathedral’s mission. Prior to the tour, the group will have lunch at J. P. Stephens Restaurant and Tavern in Rindge, N.H. All this on Tuesday, Sept. 20, leaving Hildreth House at 11 a.m, returning 3 p.m. Cost is $10 plus lunch.
