Girl Scouts to host tea

Ambassador Girl Scout Troop 30741 invites all senior citizen women who were ever involved in Girl Scouting to a Girl Scout Tea at St. Theresa’s Church Wednesday, June 15, from 3 to 4 p.m. These former scouts are invited to come and share memories and stories from their own Girl Scout experiences and to bring any books, badges, or uniform pieces they may have. Call the COA office to sign up.

Wellness clinic scheduled

The next monthly wellness clinic will take place Tuesday, June 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hildreth House. This will be an opportunity for seniors to ask health-related questions and to have blood pressure checked by a nurse. No appointment is necessary.`

On the road with COA

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more detailed information or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.

  • Monday, June 13: The COA is arranging a trip to visit the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine. Trip-goers will visit the museum, take a trolley ride, and tour the grounds. Lunch follows in Kennebunkport, with some free time for shopping downtown. The group will leave Hildreth house at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. Cost is $10 plus lunch.
  • Saturday, June 18: This trip will head to the nearby Collings Foundation in Stow. This unique air and auto museum features cars and planes from both World War I and World War II. Since the event is on a Saturday, there will be no van. Trip-goers will meet at Hildreth House at 8 a.m. and form car pools to drive to Stow. The only cost is a $10 admission fee. People are asked to call the COA if they’re interested in going, so they will have a total count.
  • Wednesday, June 29: If at least 10 people sign up, this trip to see the Lowell Spinners baseball game will happen. Seats will be behind home plate, and trip-goers will be treated with personal wait service to hot dogs, ice cream and beverages. The van will leave Hildreth House at 4:30 p.m. and return before 11 p.m. Cost is $18; payment is due with signup.
  • Wednesday, July 6: The COA has organized this trip to Kittery, Maine, for lunch at Warren’s Lobster House. Lunch will be preceded by a visit to the Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse. Although this working lighthouse is inaccessible from the mainland, it has a welcome center with a telescope and information on the light dating back to 1879, when it was first lit. After lunch there will be an opportunity to visit the outlet stores in Kittery. The van will leave Hildreth House for this trip at 9 a.m. and should be back by 4 p.m. Cost is $5 plus lunch.
