COA offers fitness options

The COA offers the following classes:

  • Aerobic exercise at the Unitarian Church Fellowship Building Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. Try one class free before making a commitment.
  • Tai chi classes at the Unitarian Church Fellowship Building Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. There are presently a couple of openings in each class.
  • Stretch-and-tone yoga at the Congregational Church Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. These four-week classes are $5 per class, payable in advance. There are currently two openings.

On the road with COA

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more detailed information or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.

  • Wednesday, May 11: The COA has organized a trip to Boston to take a walking tour of “Revolutionary Boston.” The tour will start at Faneuil Hall and end in Boston’s North End, where the group will lunch at Mama Mia’s. The guided tour is 90 minutes long; participants must be able to walk for this length of time. Cost is $15, plus lunch. The group will leave Hildreth House at 9 a.m. and return about 3 p.m.
  • Monday, May 16: This trip will take travelers to Old Sturbridge Village, to be immersed in a re-created 19th-century rural New England community. Costumed interpreters demonstrate life in the 1800s. Lunch will be at Nina’s Tavern in the village. Cost of the trip is $20, plus lunch. The group will leave Hildreth House at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 25: COA travelers will see where Boston’s water comes from on this trip to the Quabbin Reservoir, one of the largest man-made public water supplies in the United States. Following the tour, and the video recounting the history of the reservoir’s creation, lunch will be at the Salem Cross Inn. Cost is $5, plus lunch. The group will leave Hildreth House at 8:30 a.m. and return by 3 p.m.
