Send-off for COA director

Everyone is invited to Hildreth House on Tuesday, April 19, at 1 p.m. to send Ginger Quarles off to her new job in Concord with our deepest thanks and best wishes.


COA to offer computer social networking class

Seniors interested in connecting with grandchildren and friends over the Internet will want to check out this class, to be held at Hildreth House Friday, April 29, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The class will cover how to set up a personal Facebook account and how to use this free service to find and connect with family members and friends, and how to explore Facebook's many features. Call the COA to sign up; class size is limited.


Students to host annual spring luncheon

All senior citizens are invited to the annual spring luncheon at the Bromfield School Wednesday, April 27, at 12:30 p.m.in the Bromfield cafeteria. The event will be hosted by the Bromfield High School Student Council.


COA offers fitness options

The COA offers the following classes to help seniors stay fit:

  • Aerobic exercise—Classes take place in the Unitarian Church's Fellowship Hall Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. You can try one class free of charge before making a commitment.
  • Tai chi—Classes are in the Unitarian Church's Fellowship Hall Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. There are presently a couple of openings in each class.
  • Stretch-and-tone yoga—Classes take place at the Congregational Church Firdays from 10 to 11 a.m. These four-week classes are $5 per class, payable in advance. There are currently two openings.

Senior Conference

State Senator Jamie Eldridge will host the 30th annual Senior Conference Thursday, April 21, at Assabet Valley Regional High School, 215 Fitchburg St. in Marlborough. The conference, which is free for seniors, will feature a wide variety of services, workshops, food, and entertainment. Free tickets can be reserved by contacting Eldridge's district director, Michelle Geoffroy, at 508-786-3040.


On the road with COA

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more detailed information or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.

  • Saturday, April 30: Reserve tickets now for this trip to the Citi Performing Arts Theatre for a matinee performance of Grease, one of Broadway's greatest hits. The group will leave Hildreth house at 9:30 a.m. and return by 4:30 p.m. Cost is $78, required with reservation. Tickets are limited.
