Holiday tea for seniors
The Harvard Girl Scouts extend an invitation to all Harvard seniors to join them for their seventh annual Holiday Tea Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Theresa’s Church. Call the COA to sign up, but if you’re available at the last minute, you’re invited to stop by anyway.
Free concert at Indian Hill
Indian Hill Music School will present faculty guitarist Eric Baldwin and friends performing jazz and popular standards, as well as a few holiday treats, in two free concerts Thursday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be served; guests can bring their own lunch.
Luncheon trips
The COA has organized some trips offering a chance to dine at a local restaurant for tasty food and good conversation. Trips leave Hildreth House at 11:30 a.m. and return by 1:30 p.m. Price is $5 for the van plus the cost of the meal. Next trip is:
- Friday, Dec. 17: Crossroads Cafe, Acton. Cozy setting, large menu, good prices.

- Saturday, Dec. 11: Matinee performance of It’s Christmas Time by the Reagle Players at the Robinson Theatre in Waltham. Leave Hildreth House at 11:45 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. $45, due with reservation.
- Friday, Dec. 31: There is still time to reserve a spot on this trip to the Top of the Hub in Boston for a noontime New Year’s Eve celebration. The van will leave Hildreth House at 11 a.m. and return about 3 p.m. Cost is $60.
- Saturday, Jan. 8: Opera buffs will want to take in this trip to the theater at the Solomon Pond Mall for a 1 p.m. live broadcast of Puccini’s opera La Fanciulla Del West. Group will leave Hildreth House at 11:30 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. Cost is $28, payable in advance.
- Wednesday, Jan. 12: Anyone who has ever wondered what happens to their trash once it’s deposited at the Transfer Station won’t want to miss this trip to tour the facilities of Covanta Energy in Haverhill, where trash is converted to be recycled into power. Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant following the tour. Cost is $5, plus lunch.
- Saturday, Jan. 22: This trip will take COA travelers to the Hanover Theatre in Worcester to see Mamma Mia. Seats have been reserved for the 2 p.m. matinee. Cost is $60, due with reservation.
